U.S. Attorney Jason Reding Quiñones, Whose Office Ran the "Grand Conspiracy" Probe of Trump Foes, and National Security Division Chief John Eisenberg Resign
Attorney General Todd Blanche announced on X on Friday that U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida Jason A. Reding Quiñones had resigned. The U.S. attorney headed the office running the so-called “grand conspiracy” investigation into federal law enforcement officials who were involved in earlier investigations of Trump. The probe was seeking to charge officials over conduct more than 10 years old, and no charges had been brought directly in connection with it, NBC News reported. In a social media post, he wrote that he was leaving “with immense pride in what we accomplished together and profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve our great Nation.”
The same day, Assistant Attorney General John Eisenberg, head of DOJ’s National Security Division, resigned, according to two people familiar with the matter who spoke to POLITICO. He oversaw prosecutions of terrorism, leak investigations and espionage cases. The resignations came just a day after the department’s Civil Rights Division chief departed.
