Judge Charlotte Sweeney Orders ICE's Field Office Director to Court Over Re-Arrests of Colorado Detainees Federal Judges Ordered Released

Federal Judge Charlotte Sweeney has ordered the field office director for ICE to be in her courtroom Monday morning to address his agency’s practices, CBS Colorado reported, after detainees in Colorado who were ordered released by federal judges were re-arrested. The ACLU says the practice has happened more than a dozen times in a week. One man described being re-arrested at the GEO detention center in Aurora as he stepped out after his release.

The Department of Homeland Security said: “When an illegal alien is ordered released by a judge, that does not immunize the alien from immigration enforcement for all time.” It added: “To suggest that ICE cannot do this is nothing short of sabotage.” An ACLU attorney said: “It’s un-American, and it’s making a mockery of our court orders.” The report does not give the date of the judge’s order or the case caption.
