Michigan: Oakland County Sheriff Sends Case of Former Deputy Accused of Accessing Flock Database After Joining ICE to Prosecutor; Ends Flock Drone Pilot
On Thursday, Oakland County, Michigan, sheriff’s detectives sent their investigation into a former deputy to the Oakland County Prosecutor for review of possible charges, WXYZ reported. Sources told the station the former deputy is accused of accessing the Flock database after he left his county job to work for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The sheriff’s office also is ending Flock Safety’s “drone as first responder” pilot: records show it sent notice in early August that it would terminate the agreement on December 1, 2026. After the free trial the deal would have cost up to $2.5 million. The office said it has “decided not to pursue a contract with Flock Safety for our Drone as First Responder program.” Oakland County Parks will not renew its Flock license plate reader contracts. WXYZ had earlier reported that Flock Safety paid for Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chair Dave Woodward (D-Royal Oak) and some sheriff’s officials to visit Flock headquarters in Atlanta.
