Mississippi Free Press: Polling-Locator Errors Remain Before Election Day; Neshoba Clerk Says Address Can't Change

The Mississippi Free Press reported that some voters could still be sent to the wrong location on Election Day because of errors uncorrected in the Statewide Election Management System (SEMS) as of Oct. 31. Its Oct. 23 report counted changes at 138 polling places since 2024, and in 18 instances found the listed location or address incorrect or outdated in SEMS.

The Secretary of State’s office told the paper “the counties are responsible for entering the polling location information.” In Neshoba County, the state’s locator will send voters in one Philadelphia precinct to the Philadelphia Country Club at 109 Golf Course Road, the paper reports. The circuit clerk said: “SEMS address can’t be changed until after the election.” The paper notes that clerks in other counties have made corrections to SEMS shortly before Election Day before.
