Stateline Reports USCIS Approved About 55,000 Citizenship Requests in Its Latest Quarter, Down From More Than 230,000
On October 29, 2026, Stateline reported that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services approved about 55,000 requests for citizenship between April and June, compared with more than 230,000 for the same period last year, according to the agency’s most recent quarterly report. Stateline calculates that almost 380,000 immigrants might have become citizens, and so voters, over the past year had the approval rate stayed the same. That figure is Stateline’s modeled difference between about 871,000 approvals between mid-2024 and mid-2025 and about 481,000 approvals in the latest year; it is not a count of people held back. A USCIS spokesperson told Stateline: “Naturalization is a privilege, not a right.”
This is press analysis of the agency’s quarterly report, which was not read here. It sits beside the naturalized-citizen voter-initiative suit recorded in 2026-10-28–oca-apaa-common-cause-sue-dhs-uscis-ndcal-unlawful-voter-initiative-naturalized-citizens-3-26-cv-12617.
