RNC sues Black Hawk County, Iowa, auditor over photographing voting-machine seals

The lawsuit filed on Oct. 29 claims Black Hawk County Auditor Karen Showalter allegedly violated state law by prohibiting RNC observers from photographing numeric, tamper-proof seals placed on county voting machines. The RNC said in the filing that staff members attended logic and accuracy testing on Oct. 1, 2026. The RNC is seeking the court to allow it to document the numbers, and for her to pay a civil penalty fee and attorneys fees. These are the RNC’s allegations. Showalter emailed a brief statement to KWWL on Oct. 30 stating that she had no comment because of the pending litigation.
