Huang Calls Nvidia Ties to Megaspeed "Normal" After Report of an Executive Under U.S. Scrutiny
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said Thursday that Nvidia’s business with Singapore-based Megaspeed International was “normal and not unusual,” Quartz reports, citing a Bloomberg interview. The remarks followed a New York Times report, citing unnamed sources, that U.S. officials determined a Megaspeed executive works as an asset for Chinese intelligence. Huang said Nvidia verified Megaspeed had not shipped its AI processors to China in violation of the law. Megaspeed told the Times it brought in outside lawyers for an internal inquiry, and a Chinese Embassy spokesman called the conclusions “groundless smears and slanders.” The Times reported that Trump was briefed about a year ago and took no action. All of this is second-hand: Quartz summarizing the Times and Bloomberg. The executive is not named here.
