Vance Rallies for Rogers in Howell, Michigan: Ties El-Sayed to the Paris Riots and Hasan Piker; Michigan Advance Says He Avoided the Anti-Muslim Rhetoric Others Used, the Guardian Calls His Attacks an Escalation

Vice President JD Vance rallied for Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers in Howell, Michigan, on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026 (the rally date), Michigan Advance reported. It said Vance, like Trump at Port Huron on Sunday, spent most of his address attacking Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed but steered away from the same type of anti-Muslim rhetoric that Republicans have used against him. Vance did claim that El-Sayed wanted to defund the police and cited his association with podcaster Hasan Piker, and he invoked the violent protests in France: “When you forget that, it’s how you get Paris. And unfortunately, it’s exactly what El-Sayed wants to bring to the shores of the United States of America.”

The Guardian reports the same rally as an escalation and quotes more of it: “if those rioters were burning down New York, or Detroit, the Hasan Pikers and El-Sayeds would be right there leading them and cheering them on,” and “that exact same cancer is what has corrupted Abdul El-Sayed.” Michigan Advance notes that an Associated Press fact-check found there was no evidence immigration policies were behind the unrest in France, and that a Michigan Public fact check of the Muslim Brotherhood allegations against El-Sayed’s mother found that “those claims don’t match the evidence.”
