Oklahoma City Council rezones land for Beltline Energy's data center campus despite its own moratorium

The Oklahoma City Council voted Tuesday (KOKH report dated October 27) to rezone two pieces of land on the west side for a Beltline Energy data center campus; each of the two votes passed six to three. A council member called it a $15 billion project. The application was filed before the city’s moratorium took effect, and Mayor David Holt said the vote should not be read as the city being “open for business for data centers.” The approval carries conditions on water, electricity and noise, and a community benefits agreement is required before a building permit. Rezoning is not construction: plans and permits are still ahead.
