Trump Calls Democratic Senate Candidate El-Sayed a "Jihadist Muslim Brotherhood Member" at Port Huron Rally for Rogers
At a rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday, ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections, President Trump said of Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed: “I’m here to keep a jihadist Muslim Brotherhood member from becoming a United States senator,” CBS News Detroit reported. NBC News reported that he also said “He would be the only senator that will have to go through a metal detector before he’s allowed to go into the Senate. I want him to have a metal detector,” and that “Throughout his comments Sunday, Trump offered no evidence for any of the claims about El-Sayed.” The rally was held in support of the state’s Republican candidates, including the GOP Senate nominee, former Rep. Mike Rogers, and Republican gubernatorial candidate John James.
The same Muslim Brotherhood charge was put to El-Sayed at a Caro town hall earlier in October, where, per CBS News Detroit, he said “absolutely” when asked whether he would disavow it (2026-10-17–caro-town-hall-questioner-tommy-identified-as-former-hawley-operations-director-thomas-teepell).
