Washington Gov. Ferguson Offers County Auditors Plainclothes National Guard 'Election Neighborhood Watch' at Drop Boxes; Counties Choose, Thurston Accepts
KOMO News reported on October 22, 2026 that Gov. Bob Ferguson sent county auditors a letter offering a National Guard Election Neighborhood Watch: personnel who would not be in uniform and would not interact with voters dropping off ballots. Whether to accept this offer is your decision, the letter tells counties. It cites letters containing white powder sent to several officials, and KOMO published a statement that the Thurston County Auditor’s Office has accepted the offer. That statement says “Members will be unarmed, out of uniform”.
