Dhillon Tells 60 Minutes Counting and Certifying Should Not Be Interrupted Absent Some Shocking Contingency
On the CBS 60 Minutes piece stamped October 18, 2026, Harmeet Dhillon of the Justice Department told Lesley Stahl, in CBS’s rendering, that absent some shocking contingency that is unexpected, there should be no interruption in the usual course of counting and certifying the results in the states.
Stahl’s question, as transcribed, was whether she could rule out a challenge to a state vote. Dhillon prefaced the line with an admission that she does not know what will happen, and she did not say what a shocking contingency would be.
CBS reports Dhillon called concerns that Trump might challenge midterm results paranoia. On a noncitizen voting, the transcript has her saying the vote challenged is the person’s, not the entire election.
