Anonymous ICE Officials Tell The Intercept the September 25 Arrest Stand-Down Lasted 4-5 Days

The Intercept reported that ICE leadership issued internal orders on the weekend of September 25 directing deportation officers to stop arresting undocumented immigrants without criminal histories. One unnamed ERO official told the outlet “The DHS denied it but the orders stayed in place for 4-5 days and we followed them.” Every ICE official quoted is anonymous, and the duration is one official’s statement.

The same report quotes officials on a criminal voter fraud probe across nine states ordered in early September and on the Oct. 12 search of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home, which an unnamed ICE official said “has to be politically motivated.” Related entries: 2026-09-27–ice-verbal-order-stop-non-criminal-arrests-reversed-white-house-official-confirms, 2026-09-26–dhs-posts-nationwide-sanctuary-city-surge-denies-ice-non-criminal-arrest-stop, 2026-10-12–hsi-searches-rep-ilhan-omar-dc-home-doj-warrant-22-days-before-midterms.
