Detainees' Class Action Over Camp East Montana Reaches a Motion for Preliminary Injunction in W.D. Tex.
On 10/15/26 the plaintiffs in Angye v. ICE, No. 3:01515 (W.D. Tex., El Paso Division, Judge Leon Schydlower), filed a motion for a preliminary injunction over conditions at Camp East Montana, the Fort Bliss tent facility. The case is a class action: the complaint was filed 05/29/26 by detained people (one proceeding by initials) on behalf of others similarly situated, against ICE, DHS and the Department of War among others. The complaint describes the facility as having “a stated capacity of 5,000” and “three reported deaths.”
The motion’s request is: “Plaintiffs respectfully request that the Court issue the proposed preliminary injunction.” It also asks the court to grant the pending motion for class certification, which, the plaintiffs say, “was filed on May 30, 2026.” The May 30 date is the class-certification motion, not the filing of the case; canon’s other Camp East Montana entries record the HRW/ACLU report (2026-07-15–hrw-aclu-fort-bliss-camp-east-montana-84-page-abuse-report) and the no-bid contract extension (2026-07-27–ice-extends-amentum-no-bid-776m-camp-east-montana), but not this docket.
