Sequence of dated events, each with its date kind. No finding here about who ordered the limit or why.
- 2026-10-10 (Saturday; X post date): Newsweek reports Musk posted “Zelensky has gone too far” after Trump said he had told Zelensky to stop striking Russian refineries. Original post not fetched.
- Night of 2026-10-13 to 10-14 (date of onset; sources differ): Beskrestnov said SpaceX “implemented speed restrictions on Starlink terminals while in motion last night” (Kyiv Independent). Euromaidan Press dates it Oct 13; Meduza and dev.ua say the morning of Oct 14. Unresolved.
- 2026-10-14 (Reuters publication date): Reuters reports Ukraine says SpaceX stopped its military-grade version working above 100 mph and gave no warning; the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps cancelled some missions; reason “not clear”; SpaceX did not respond.
- 2026-10-14 (Kyiv Independent publication): Beskrestnov: “Obviously, this action cannot be a coincidence and is associated with the current political situation.” No evidence offered for the link.
- 2026-10-14 evening (announcement date, Fedorov, who left the Ukrainian government in July): service restored up to 160 km/h with the cap still in place; “Now we need to work on removing the speed limit for Starshield altogether.” The Ukrainian Defense Ministry said the 161 km/h limit remained.
- 2026-10-14 (X post date, per Meduza): Musk replied that Starshield is owned and controlled by the US government and “Any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS.” The Pentagon and White House had not commented in the sources read; SpaceX gave no statement.
- 2026-10-14/15 (post date, Ukrinform pub 10-15): Sikorski on X: “Hey, Elon Musk, big man, are you playing politics with your products again?” … “As your European customers, we are watching you.”
Not verified at tier-1: CNN and NBC coverage was not found; the customer-support claim, Poland $50M/yr (Ukrinform does not mention it), 29,500 terminals (Euromaidan traces it to an April 2025 delivery report; a different outlet gives other counts), and the 39 missiles / 128 drones / 77 Shahed figure (Reuters via Moscow Times says Ukraine downed four of 39 missiles; drone figures not found).
