Kotick, former chief executive of Activision Blizzard, as a member of the Board effective at the closing of the Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition, and that on October 5, 2026 the Board appointed Laurene Powell Jobs, founder and president of Emerson Collective, effective at the closing. Kotick will serve on the Nominating and Governance Committee. The filing’s biography of Powell Jobs says she is majority investor and Chair of the Board of The Atlantic.

Why it belongs in the media-capture thread. The state attorney-general consent decree in the Paramount-WBD case requires an Editorial Independence Board. In the text as filed, its members “shall be appointed by the Combined Entity’s Board of Directors.” These directors are therefore among those who will appoint the body meant to protect CNN and CBS News from owner interference.
