Trump Confirms Intelligence Director Jay Clayton as Head of New White House AI Task Force
AFP reports that President Donald Trump on Sunday confirmed national intelligence chief Jay Clayton as head of a new White House task force on artificial intelligence. The New York Times News Service had reported a day earlier, citing current and former officials, that Clayton would receive an additional position on AI policy. Trump posted on Truth Social that the “Super Intelligence Force” would ensure the United States “continue to lead the world” in AI development.
Clayton becomes the second person to hold the informal AI czar title, after David Sacks. Related: 2026-07-28–clayton-confirmed-dni-party-line-vote; 2026-03-26–sacks-departs-ai-crypto-czar-role-no-successor-kratsios-pcast-transition.
