Valentina Galvis Sues ICE Contractor MVM Inc. and Sonesta Over Hotel Detention

Valentina Galvis filed suit on September 29 against ICE contractor MVM Inc. and Sonesta International Hotels Corporation and affiliates, on behalf of herself and her infant son, alleging false imprisonment and civil conspiracy over a five-day confinement in a Chicago-area airport hotel room after an ICE arrest in June 2025. The suit seeks more than $50,000 in compensatory damages plus punitive damages. These are the complaint’s allegations as reported; no ruling is recorded, and the suit does not name the federal government as a defendant.

MVM has received more than $1.3 billion in ICE contracts since fiscal year 2020, much of it for transporting families. The detention itself is recorded at 2025-06-01–mvm-sonesta-hotel-detention; this entry records the civil suit. The child is not named here.
