Hester Peirce Confirms She Will Leave the SEC October 2, Leaving Two Republican Commissioners and a Rewritten Quorum Rule
Hester Peirce confirmed on September 25 that she will step down as an SEC commissioner on October 2. Once she leaves, the commission will have only two commissioners, Atkins and Mark Uyeda, both Republicans. The last two Democratic commissioners who resigned were not replaced by Trump. After Peirce confirmed her departure the SEC modified its quorum rule to clarify that, if one of the commissioners recuses himself, the remaining commissioner will, on his own, constitute a quorum.
Regent University School of Law announced it will welcome Peirce as an associate professor, per InvestmentNews.
