KSAT, republishing a San Antonio Business Journal report, said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) awarded a $17.3 million contract on Aug. 27 to GardaWorld Federal Services LLC for the redevelopment of an East Side warehouse into a detention center, “federal contract records show.” The warehouse, Oakmont 410, is at 542 Southeast Loop 410. KSAT also reported, citing the Business Journal, that ICE acquired the warehouse in February for $66.1 million; that price is the outlet’s report, and no deed or federal record read states it.
USAspending lists the award, 70CDCR26FR0000103, at $61,829,037.54 obligated with a potential value of $1,008,135,768.12. Those figures differ from the $17.3 million KSAT reported. The award description reads: “THIS TASK ORDER IS TO PROCURE THE RENOVATION OF EXISTING, ICE-OWNED PERMANENT STRUCTURE IN SAN ANTONIO, TX TO SERVE AS A PROCESSING AND DETENTION FACILITY AND PROVIDE ALL NECESSARY WRAPAROUND SERVICES FOR OPERATION OF THE FACILITY.” It is a delivery order under Navy contract N0002325D0032, coded “FULL AND OPEN COMPETITION” with 8 offers received.
