Orange County, NY Town Board Votes to Oppose $35.5M ICE Warehouse Lease; Governor Demands Disclosure

The Town of Newburgh, Orange County, NY voted July 14 on a formal resolution opposing ICE’s use of a $35.5M, 15-year leased warehouse at 800 Corporate Blvd as a detention and processing center, with the town supervisor pledging “all available legal options.” Texas-based Leverage Enterprises signed the lease on June 24; the facility specifications call for a sally port for “detainee buses and vans,” Level 3 security, and small-arms storage. Governor Hochul publicly demanded DHS disclosure on July 13; Rep. Pat Ryan and multiple county officials joined the opposition. ICE and DHS have remained silent on the facility’s purpose.
