Utah Lieutenant Governor Counts 5,007 Unconfirmed Registrants

May 27, 2026 is the date on the Utah Office of the Lieutenant Governor’s citizenship review of the state’s voter rolls, which used Driver License Division data and the federal SAVE program.

In the office’s words: “we found 27 confirmed noncitizens, whom clerks have since removed from the voter rolls.” And: “there are 5,007 registrants whose citizenship status we were unable to confirm.” For those registrants the consequence is: “otherwise they will receive a federal-only ballot.” The office identified 25 registered voters as probable noncitizens.

On the databases’ limits, the office wrote that DLD or SAVE information was reliable in confirming citizenship but “it was not reliable in indicating an individual was not a citizen.” The 5,007 are registrants the office could not confirm; they are not a count of citizens flagged in error.
