Rededicate 250: Freedom 250 stages National Jubilee of Prayer on National Mall — Barron keynote in person, Hegseth/Vance/Rubio/Trump by video
Freedom 250 — a “public-private partnership with the White House and other government bodies” per Religion News Service, CEO Keith Krach — staged “Rededicate 250: A National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise & Thanksgiving” on the National Mall, May 17, 2026, 10:30 AM–6:00 PM, ahead of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. President Trump had announced the May 17 date in a January 29, 2026 proclamation issued at the National Prayer Breakfast (Proclamation 11007, “Year of Celebration and Rededication”).
The organizer’s own final program lists 36 named participants. Bishop Robert Barron (Diocese of Winona-Rochester, Word on Fire) delivered the event’s designated Keynote Address in person, telling the crowd (per OSV News, same-day): “What the founders knew from their Christian formation is that all people, despite their enormous inequalities, are equally children of God and therefore equal in dignity.” Also appearing in person: NAR/apostolic figures Dutch Sheets, Lou Engle, and Apostle Guillermo Maldonado; Rabbi Meir Soloveichik (Congregation Shearith Israel); Sen. Tim Scott; Speaker Mike Johnson, who led a prayer of rededication (“we turn to you once again to save us from these afflictions, to deliver us from the forces of evil, oppression, injustice and tyranny,” per Daily Citizen’s transcript); and a large SBC/Baptist evangelical bloc (Robert Jeffress, Jack Graham, Jonathan Pokluda, Jentezen Franklin, Jonathan Falwell, Lorenzo Sewell), plus musicians Chris Tomlin and Sadie Robertson Huff.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, DNI Tulsi Gabbard, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, and President Trump all appeared by pre-recorded video message only — not in person, and not sharing a live stage with the in-person speakers.
Sean Feucht and Mark Driscoll were never on Freedom 250’s official program, at either the April 22 pre-event lineup (Religion News Service) or the final program page. Driscoll’s Real Faith ministry had claimed an invitation to the main session (April 12 email, per The Roys Report); organizers told The Roys Report “we did not invite him to Rededicate 250, and he is not speaking at our event.” Feucht instead organized a separate, free rally titled “Let Us Worship” on the National Mall the evening before, May 16, featuring Driscoll alongside Greg Locke and Eric Metaxas (Metaxas also appears on Freedom 250’s own official program for “Historical Narration” — not reconciled whether he appeared at both events).
Crowd figures diverge by source type: Daily Citizen (organizer-aligned) reported “hundreds of thousands”; independent wire and press coverage (AP, The Guardian, Washington Post, DW, NBC4 Washington, WUSA9) converged on “thousands” in same-day/next-day headlines. No NPS or independently-sourced crowd-count methodology was located for either figure. No NPS special-event permit record was retrieved for this entry. A follow-up pass (2026-08-31) confirmed the precise access mechanism rather than the portal alone: ncrpermits.nps.gov is a Microsoft Power Pages/Dynamics 365 portal whose substantive views (the applicant’s own submitted-applications list, and per-category special-event “constraint” calendars) are gated behind a login.gov-authenticated applicant session or render only via client-side JS against an ASP.NET postback form — neither reachable by direct fetch. The Wayback Machine’s CDX index shows zero historical captures of any content page on that domain beyond the bare homepage, confirming crawlers (including Wayback’s own) cannot reach the gated views either. The static NAMA park website’s permit pages (permits-notices.htm, permitsandreservations.htm) are boilerplate applicant instructions, not a public register of issued permits. This is an access-mechanism gap, not a finding that no permit exists. A FOIA request to NPS National Mall and Memorial Parks has been drafted (not sent) in follow-up-nps-permit-rededicate-250-national-mall, parked pending Mark’s fee-category certification and routing.
Freedom 250 does not appear as its own entity in the IRS Exempt Organizations Business Master File (ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer API, queried 2026-08-31) — its funding and legal structure remain undocumented in public nonprofit-registry records, distinguishing it from “America250 Org Inc” (EIN 84-2144791), the separate congressionally-chartered semiquincentennial commission.
Cross-track read: the event’s documented cross-track convergence is a Catholic bishop’s in-person keynote sharing an official program with named NAR/apostolic figures (Sheets, Engle, Maldonado) and a Jewish rabbi’s reflection — a broader and more specific convergence than “Hegseth and Barron,” since Hegseth never appeared in person. The administration figures’ participation via pre-recorded video, rather than physical co-presence, is itself a documentable pattern: it achieves public coalition-signaling without the security, logistics, and optics exposure of shared physical space — worth tracking as a recurring move in future coalition-event entries, not asserted here as unique to this event.

Absorbed with two small fixes; the pass itself is a model of the disciplines this corpus keeps writing down.
Fix 1 — removed Sean Feucht and Mark Driscoll from actors:. The body correctly establishes they
were never on the program — organizers told The Roys Report “we did not invite him to Rededicate
250, and he is not speaking at our event.” But actors: is what an entity-index query returns, so
listing them there would surface both as participants in an event they did not attend. Their role
is a documented non-appearance, and the body is the right place for it. They remain fully covered
below, including Driscoll’s own ministry’s claim of an invitation and the organizers’ verbatim denial.
Fix 2 — added the cross-links this entry had none of (see Related Entries).
What this pass got right, worth naming
- The title itself carries the finding: “Barron keynote in person, Hegseth/Vance/Rubio/Trump by video.” The ticket’s premise was a Hegseth–Barron shared stage. It never happened; every administration figure appeared by pre-recorded video only.
- The crowd figure names who counted: organizer-aligned Daily Citizen “hundreds of thousands” vs. six independent outlets converging on “thousands,” with the organizer source explicitly labeled non-neutral and no NPS methodology located for either.
- The permit gap is stated as an access-mechanism gap, not an absence —
ncrpermits.nps.govis interactive-search-only. That distinction is the corpus’s most-repeated discipline and it held. - It replaced a weak cross-track claim with a stronger, better-sourced one. The dispatch pointed at a Feucht/Driscoll adjacency merged from a duplicate ticket. The pass found that thread is a separate May 16 rally — and that the real documented NAR/apostolic presence on the official stage is Dutch Sheets, Lou Engle, and Guillermo Maldonado, already connected to this corpus’s Wallnau/Paula White work.
- It corrected a quote’s provenance: the “NAR dream come true” line is Bunni Pounds’s own Facebook framing quoted by Religion Dispatches — not RD’s editorial judgment about this event. That is the feedback_quote_attributed_to_wrong_side shape, caught before it entered canon.
The structural observation, correctly bounded
Administration figures by video, religious figures in person. The pass logs this as a generic risk-management move — same coalition signal without the security and optics exposure of physical co-presence — and explicitly does not assert it as coordination unique to this event. That is feedback_limited_move_sets_produce_repeated_plays applied correctly: claim the move, not the movers, in one line rather than paragraphs of hedging. Worth watching across future coalition-event entries.
Top follow-up
The NPS special-event permit is the single highest-value open item — it would give organizer of record, expected attendance, and scale from a primary document. Update, 2026-08-31: a follow-up pass confirmed the portal is not merely missing a per-event URL but is architecturally gated (a Power Pages/Dynamics 365 portal requiring an authenticated applicant login for the one view that would show this) and that zero content pages beyond the bare homepage were ever crawlable, per the Wayback CDX index. A FOIA to NPS National Mall and Memorial Parks has been drafted (see follow-up-nps-permit-rededicate-250-national-mall) and is parked pending Mark sending it — it remains in bounds (a documentary request, not an RFC).
