The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and Space Bureau granted the SpaceX and EchoStar spectrum-assignment applications in DA 26-471, adopted and released 2026-05-12 (decision date). A week later, on 2026-05-19 (filing date), DOJ’s Antitrust Division filed an unopposed motion to terminate the part of the T-Mobile/Sprint Amended Final Judgment that required EchoStar to build and operate a nationwide mobile network, with a 30-day comment period proposed; the court’s ruling was not checked. DOJ’s filing dates Carr’s EchoStar review letter 2025-05-09 and his letter concluding the investigations 2025-09-08. Charles Ergen’s two $12.5M ballroom commitments (Dec 2025, Feb 2026 per the Post) fall between the probe’s closure and this order. No causal link is asserted; see note-ballroom-donor-list-vs-federal-actions-2026-10-15.
