NIST's CAISI Signs Frontier AI National Security Testing Agreements With Google DeepMind, Microsoft and xAI

NIST’s Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI) signed national security testing agreements with Google DeepMind, Microsoft and xAI. ExecutiveGov reported that NIST said the agreements build on “previously announced partnerships that were renegotiated” with earlier partners.

NIST says CAISI has completed “more than 40 evaluations,” that “Developers frequently provide models with reduced or removed safeguards,” and that the agreements support “testing in classified environments.” These are voluntary agreements; no statute or order compels a developer to sign.
