Supreme Court Summarily Reverses District Court Judgment Against Texas Congressional Map in Abbott v. LULAC, No. 25-845; Sotomayor, Kagan and Jackson Dissent
On Monday, April 27, 2026, the Supreme Court disposed of the appeal in No. 25-845, Abbott, Governor of Texas, et al. v. LULAC, et al., by summary disposition. The Court’s order list files the case under “APPEAL – SUMMARY DISPOSITION.”
The order reads: “For the reasons set forth in Abbott v. League of United Latin American Citizens, 607 U. S. ___ (2025), we reverse the District Court’s judgment.” The earlier opinion the order cites is the one in the same case that accompanied the stay of the district court’s order; see 2025-12-04–supreme-court-reinstates-texas-mid-decade-redistricting-map.
Justices Sotomayor, Kagan and Jackson dissent “from the Court’s summary reversal.” The order list names the dissenters and gives no vote count, and the order carries no opinion of its own.
The Court’s docket for No. 25-845 records that judgment issued on May 29 2026.
