ICE FY2026 Removals on Pace to Exceed 460,000, Nearly 45% Above FY2025 and 85% Above FY2024
The Deportation Data Project, drawing on FOIA-obtained DHS data, reported that through the first six months of FY2026 (October 1, 2025 through April 4, 2026), ICE has carried out 234,236 removals — compared to 134,500 at the same point in FY2025. At the current daily pace of 1,266 removals per day, FY2026 is on track to exceed 460,000 deportations for the full fiscal year — nearly 45% more than FY2025 and 85% more than FY2024. ICE held 60,311 individuals in detention as of April 4, 2026, with 70.8% (42,722) holding no criminal conviction. The pace places FY2026 on track to be the largest deportation year in modern American history.
The numbers contextualize Operation Metro Surge (Twin Cities, December 2025–present) and the WEXMAC-TITUS detention-warehouse buildout (Williamsport, Tremont, Salt Lake City, etc.) as components of an integrated mass-deportation system: 3,000+ DHS agents in single metro operations, $38B+ in detention-warehouse procurement, ICE redirecting 25% of FBI agents under Patel to immigration enforcement, and a removal pace targeting nearly half a million annually. The system is not the policy preference of one administration; it is now load-bearing infrastructure that produces revenue streams for Newmark, Blue Owl, GEO Group, CoreCivic, and downstream contractors. The El Gamal family case (April 25 federal-court halt) and the dozens of similar court-ordered halts across FY2026 remain individual interventions against an enforcement architecture that has documented capacity for ~5x its FY2024 throughput.
