DOJ Expands Epstein Document Review to 5.2 Million Pages, Enlisted 400 Attorneys

The Department of Justice announced it was now reviewing 5.2 million pages of Epstein-related documents, up from the 1 million additional documents announced on Christmas Eve. DOJ enlisted 400 attorneys from criminal and national security divisions, plus U.S. attorneys’ offices in Florida and New York, to work on the review. At the current pace of release, some estimates suggested full review could take ‘over eight years.’ The massive expansion of scope occurred just twelve days after the law’s December 19 deadline for complete release. Representatives Massie and Khanna characterized the sudden discovery of millions of additional documents as potentially ‘overstated’ to portray compliance as ‘unmanageable and effectively delaying disclosure.’ The figures remained self-reported by DOJ with no independent verification possible.
