Florida, Ohio, Indiana and Iowa Settle SAVE Suit With DHS and Pledge "Best Efforts" to Help DHS Get Full Use of Driver's License Records From Nlets

Florida, Ohio, Indiana and Iowa settled their suit against DHS over the SAVE citizenship-verification system. The agreement was filed on the docket on 11/28/25.

Each state “may provide” DHS with 1,000 randomly selected driver’s license records, for SAVE. A state that does so will “make best efforts to support and encourage DHS’s efforts to receive and have full use of state driver’s license records from the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System ("NLETS")” and its license agency.

The document does not name ICE or HSI. The Nlets clause is attached to the SAVE records pledge, so it is a verification term, not an enforcement data-sharing agreement.
