Noem Tells ICE Agents at Broadview to "Go Hard" and "Hammer These Guys"

On October 3, 2025, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem visited the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing facility in Broadview, Illinois — a western Chicago suburb where immigration protesters had maintained a sustained presence — and delivered a pep talk to agents as they prepared to leave for enforcement operations. Her remarks, recorded by conservative influencer Benny Johnson who was embedded with agents, included the statement: “So today, when we leave here, we’re going to go hard. We’re going to hammer these guys that are advocating for violence against the American people.”

Noem made no comments to Chicago-area journalists present at the facility. The visit coincided with Operation Midway Blitz, a mass immigration enforcement sweep in the Chicago metro area in which Greg Bovino — then serving as operational commander — and his agents detained protesters outside the Broadview facility. CNN, NBC News, and WGN-TV documented the protests and multiple protester arrests on the day of the visit; Illinois Governor Pritzker condemned Noem’s visit and called for her accountability.
