Climate Programs Dismantled - NOAA Faces 27% Budget Cut

On July 15, 2025, the federal government implements massive budget cuts to climate research, effectively dismantling NOAA’s research capabilities. The Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) is completely eliminated, with the budget line reading zero dollars for climate research. Multiple climate websites are taken offline, and 16 cooperative climate research institutes are defunded.
