They noted that 'International law does not allow governments to simply murder alleged drug traffickers.' UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk called the strikes 'unacceptable' and demanded they stop, warning they 'violate international human rights law' regardless of criminal conduct alleged against victims. The UN emphasized that intentional lethal force is only permissible as a last resort against imminent threats to life.
